Why provide a FREE

It was
initially hoped that providing you with the ability to undertake a free
search would ensure you remembered us when it came time to buy your next
second-hand car and wished to check it out before you handed over your hard
earned cash. We all tend to buy to our income and a vehicle purchase
represents a big lump of our disposable income, a sum criminals are only too
eager to take from us. We do hope you will appreciate this service,
place us on your list of favourites and return to us regularly possibly even
purchasing a check at some stage to undertake a full search using the link
to the left. |

However, it soon became
evident that there were other uses for the data, other means by which the
facility could benefit you: |

Insurance Claim |
Has someone stolen a vehicle
from you? You have reported the crime to the police, advised your
insurers and are now waiting for their offer of settlement ... but what if:
- the police overlooked
placing your vehicle on the PNC (Police National Computer) as 'stolen' or
- vehicle was found
(recovered) buy no one told you?
If the car is not on the
PNC as 'stolen' then anyone enquiring of the registration mark (police,
insurers, automatic number plate readers etc.) will not be alerted to its
stolen status - the vehicle is highly unlikely to be 'recovered'; located
and returned. Now you can ensure your vehicle is recorded as stolen.
If the vehicle is found,
you want to know about it. The vehicle may be undamaged and driveable;
it can be retuned to you and your claim withdrawn. No need to hire a
car or buy a new one. Sadly, too many victims are not advised that
their car has been found, errors occur. Now you can check the vehicle
whenever you wish to see if it has been removed from the stolen register.
If the car is not on the
PNC as 'stolen' your insurance company will either query whether it was in
fact stolen or if it has been recovered. If the latter, you want to
know immediately so the insurers can appoint an engineer to inspect any
damage and decide whether to repair or write-off. You do not want this
process delayed.
If your vehicle is not on
the stolen register and no one has told you it has been found your claim
will be delayed but on the bright side, you may not need to claim.
Insurers check the stolen register, now you can:

Abandoned vehicles |
Possibly the vehicle at the
end of your road has not moved for some days, does not fit with the
surroundings, or has an out of date tax, possibly the person who walked away
from it was not someone from the neighbourhood or it could simply be your
sixth sense, a gut reaction - something is not quite right.
By all means phone the police
or your local council to advise them of the abandoned vehicle but don't
expect them to tell you the car is on the PNC as stolen. Now you can
see for yourself:

Pre-purchase |
Possibly all you wish to do is
see if the vehicle you are about to buy, or are interested in, is on the
stolen register. Be our guest:
