No system is
infallible and whilst we live in an age of information and electronic
transfers, the fact is that it takes time for a vehicle reported to the
police as 'stolen' to appear on the Police national Computer (PNC).
This should be no more than 24 hours, but delays do occur.
We are
advising you what is 'recorded' - what has transferred from the PNC to our
'public' register.
Do also bear in mind that the information
relates only to the mark in respect of which you are enquiring, If the
vehicle was reported stolen and a false registration mark (identity) has
been affixed, this check will not identify the anomaly. Indeed, NO computer
check alone can!
Changes of
identity are generally referred to as 'ringers' and 'clones'.
